Furniture Restoration

So my good friend Reagan had been given an entire bedroom set from her mom, a set that previously belonged to her grandpa.  Though the furniture was great quality furniture, it needed a little TLC.  And me being me, I suggested to Reagan that we were completely capable of giving this furniture an awesome face lift.  So after my mommy-cation to AZ, I came back to VA to find Reagan ready to give her furniture a new look.  Woohoo!
The Olsen girls getting a little too "into" the refinishing project!
So we began, and of course the week we started was the week the weather decided to rain daily, if not drizzle all day!  Not perfect timing, but we pushed forward and just worked a little harder to get it done. Also, the humidity in VA is enough to make the average furniture flipper give up; but we were determined, so we gave all the furniture a lot of time to dry...as well as a lot of standing fan face time!  So first we sanded everything...then painted...then distressed...then glazed...then finally sealed everything.  I think that Reagan is pretty happy with the end result, though I'm not convinced she'd tell me otherwise! :) We also cleaned and spray painted all the hardware with an oiled bronze color/finish, that I think completed the new look for this bed room set.
Before picture: dresser
After picture: dresser (we stained and sealed the top, and it looks great contrasted against the painted/distressed drawers, etc)
Before picture: chest of drawers
After picture: chest of drawers (drawer handles still to be installed)

The "new" hideout for the day...

Lauren couldn't fit in the sideways drawer openings, so she decided on hanging out in a drawer :)

The headboard painted and distressed, but only half glazed.  We wanted a picture to show what a difference the glaze had on the color of the final outcome.  I nicknamed the style of the final product Cottage Chic.
The entire lot of furniture that we made-over: 1 dresser, 1 chest of drawers,
2 bed side tables, and 1 headboard.
Good thing both Reagan and Tyler are so chill that they didn't seem to mind (too much) being inconvenienced for the week it took to get this project completed.  Giving their bedroom set a face lift has reignited the urge in me to do something to some of my furniture.  It'll have to be small scale though, because my "everything has a place" husband would probably develop turrets syndrome if I disassembled our master bedroom for a week!
